Tirza L. Buelto is a lover of life and the universe with a life-long allegiance to her identity as a New Yorker. She can never pinpoint exactly what she does, when asked, but can always relay that she is doing what she likes.  She enjoys the simpler things in life, coupled with warm and cozy environments in which to enjoy them.

STB: What did you major in?  Are you currently working in that field?
TLB: I majored in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology with a minor in Africana Studies. I am not working in either field.
STB: Interesting! That sounds about right for a multi-potentialite such as yourself.

STB: What community service activities have you been involved with over the years?
TLB: Mainly working with students and low-income/disadvantaged populations. A lot of work with the homeless and some work with human trafficking.

STB: Human trafficking is a huge issues today that we don't discuss enough! I commend you for that work. What else do you like to do in your free time (if you have any)?
TLB: I'm such a nerd. Right now i'm working on putting together a draft business plan, I work part-time as a Clinical Specialist and really, I just do a lot of artsy stuff.

STB: Do you have siblings?  If so, are they specialists or multi-potentialites like you?
TLB: One brother...I want to say that he is on the path to being a multi-potentialite.
STB: That wouldn't surprise me! It can be hereditary. :-)

STB: Name one career you’ve always secretly wanted to pursue.
TLB: I wanted to be an adolescent psychologist.
STB: With all that you've done to date, that may not be too far out of your reach!

STB: From high school to the present, what was your favorite job?
TLB: It was my first job! I was a Compliance and Accountability Associate and it really allowed me to work in all the areas of education! It is a multi-pod dream job. I still keep in touch with my old supervisor. She made the job awesome and I believe she also was/is a multi-potentialite.
STB: That is super interesting! I never considered how beneficial it could be for a multi-potentialite to work for a multi-potentialite supervisor, who understands their way of working and how to keep them engaged. I wonder how I can screen for that in my next interview! LOL

STB: What advice would you give to other multi-potentialites looking to make major career transitions?
TLB: Be YOURSELF! It's so easy to slip into the idea that you have to fit into this perfect little box. It's alright to excel in different areas. It's alright to have multiple interests. It is NOT alright when folks tell you otherwise. Choose jobs that allow you to work in different areas within the field. My biggest mistake has been ignoring my many callings and feeling bad when people look at my job history. I have multiple interests, I master things quickly and I lose interest just as quickly.

STB: Great advice! Giving yourself the freedom to ebb and flow in your career is liberating! And I know you have an awesome resume befitting of a multipod! Thank you for sharing yourself with us!

Tirza inspires me with her free spirit, independence and the best natural fro I've ever seen. She surrounds herself with people that affirm and uplift her, and is a loyal friend. She has dedicated her career to helping children in many capacities. No matter what this multipod is doing, you can rest assured that children are benefiting from her services and hard work! Thanks for all that you do!

  1. I love this blog. There are so many of us who weren't made to fit in boxes. We shrink ourselves to fit in, for security, for a clear job path, but it isn't our purpose. Thank you for reminding me.
